In the beginning of gymnastics, which formally originated from Ancient Greece, gymnastics was originally intended for military training, where it was used by soldiers to get ready for war. The skills and strength in performing gymnastics at the ancient times were thought as great assets to those battling on the warfield.

About the Medal:-
This prestigious contest of physical strength is organised by the Belge National Federation of Gymnastics. And well attended by gymnasts all over Belgium & other surrounding European cities, and nations' federal gymnastics associations.

Design
Intricate loop designs repeated on both medallion's obverse & reverse, of winged Angels (maidens) reaching above crossing victory wreaths branches, one maiden (left) with torch upright to shoulder, the other maiden (right) with trumpet upright to shoulder.

Obverse: Lion of Belge with inscriptions, of the dates & series of competition, held with sponsorship by the Federal Gymnastics Association.

Reverse: Shield of Arms of the Belge City of Namur

The medallion is very beautiful, with good golden-giltter on its central piece. It has been circulated but still in great condition and hence a good fair price vs. an uncirculated piece. This is in excellent condition, though some light marks of wear.

It is very massive and really captivating to the eye especially the loop designs. It is extremely rare, a unique valuable piece and with a strong finesse aura about the material.
